AbstractDemetrios I (ca. 186 – 150BCE), son of Seleukos IV Philopator and Laodike, became king in 162. In ca. 177, Demetrios had replaced his uncle Antiochos IV Epiphanes as a hostage in Rome in order to fulfill the terms of the Treaty of Apamea (App.Syr. 47).
