Hampi Art Labs: An architecture of the River and Rocks

Hampi Art Labs is a contemporary architectural response that integrates art, landscape and cultural heritage into one project. Hampi Art Labs (within the Hampi Karnataka region) was designed by Sameep Padora and his architectural practice known as "Sameep Padora & Associates" to define the historic region of Hampi in an architectural way with contemporary architecture. This research paper will include examples of how the built form merges with the forest and how the metaphor of the Tungabhadra River allows for fluid imagery to dissipate throughout Hampi Art Labs. It will also include information about the spatial organization, planning, climatic relationships and materials so that we can understand how architecture functions both as an experiential system and an ecological system.
