Hazardous Waste Problem

Abstract "The Hazardous Waste Problem -- One Company's Solution" addresses the issues involved in the treatment and disposal of hazardous waste material. The presentation references significant Federal legislation on the subject, and describes the regulatory system created by the legislation. The origin of hazardous waste, and the nature of the generators is discussed. The nature of the present siting impasse is considered. Also addressed in the paper are operational practices with regard to hazardous wastes and descriptions of treatment and storage capabilities. The physical composition of hazardous waste facilities is considered in detail and the paper concludes with a review of hazardous waste site selection criteria.
