Art Nouveau stained glass window in the Archbishop's Chapel of St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague, designed by Alfons Mucha.The stained glass window from 1931 with the scene of the Christianization of the Czech Republic contains numerous references to Czech history. The central place is occupied by the Czech king, Saint Wenceslaus, raised by the Christian grandmother Saint Ludmila. Saint Wenceslaus, who unified the Czech lands in the 10th century, alludes to the rebirth of statehood in 1918. In the upper part of the stained glass window, missionaries from the 9th century, Cyril and Methodius, baptizing their Slavic students are depicted. At the bottom are two female figures personifying Czechs and Slovaks.The cathedral itself was founded in 1344 by John of Luxembourg and his son Charles IV on the site of the Romanesque rotunda. The cathedral is 124 m long, 33 m high, and the main tower is 96.5 m high.
