Прикметниковий різновид іменного складеного присудка: структура та семантика

The aim of the study is a comprehensive analysis of the structural and grammatical specifics and semantic content of the adjectival variety of the nominal compound predicate based on the poetic and prose works of Yevheniia Nazaruk. Methods and Techniques. We employed the following methods: descriptive, observation, modeling, as well as the functional analysis technique in order to achieve the stated aim. Results. The structural and grammatical features and semantic diversity of the adjectival variety of the nominal compound predicate are completely outlined, drawing upon specific factual material selected from the poetic and prose works of Yevheniia Nazaruk. The grammatical role and semantic distinctiveness of the verbal linking components as constituents of the adjectival variety of the nominal compound predicate are characterized. A differentiation of adjectives into semantic groups is carried out according to the degree of their syntactic stability. The semantic groups of adjectives are analyzed from the perspective of their use in the primary/secondary formal-syntactic predicative position, with an emphasis on the degree of their prevalence in the analyzed two-part sentence structures. Conclusions. In the analyzed works of Yevheniia Nazaruk, the adjectival variety of the nominal compound predicate is predominantly represented by adjectives diverse in semantic content, combined with the copular verb to be, most often expressed implicitly in the present tense, explicitly in the future and past tenses, and rarely with other explicitly realized verbal linking elements. For most Ukrainian adjectives, the position of the nominal compound predicate is not typical, but secondary. Only a part of qualitative adjectives with the maximum and average degree of verbal syntactic stability demonstrates the ability to function in the primary formal-syntactic position of the nominal compound predicate, which is fully confirmed by the illustrative material selected from the poetic and prose works of Yevheniia Nazaruk.
