Hilary Anne-Marie Mooneys study is based on the new critical edition of Eriugenas Periphyseon and analyzes Eriugena as a biblically rooted theologian. The author presents the notion of theophany, the appearing of God, as the key to understanding Eriugenas system as a whole.
