Evaluasi Jenis Rumpon Di Perairan Rebo Provinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung

Rebo waters have a huge fishery potential for fishermen. The increasing exploitation of fish resources and anthropogenic activities can lead to reduced fishermen's catches in these waters. A fish aggregating device (FAD) is an alternative for the restoration of fish diversity and abundance or habitat enhancement efforts. In 2020, 4 types of FADs were drowned in Rebo waters: coconut leaves, drums, used boats, and concrete. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the drowned FADs have become a new habitat for fish by analyzing the species composition, abundance, diversity, and biomass of each type of FAD to understand the best type of FAD construction. The research was conducted in March 2022 using the Underwater Visual Census (UVC) method and a belt transect. The results showed there were 823 individuals in total from 17 species and 16 families. The highest abundance found in the type of FAD concrete was 3.81 ind/m2 and the lowest was found in FAD boat type 2.20 ind/m2. The total biomass value is 35.6 kg and the highest is found in concrete FAD with 12.8 kg/100m2 and the lowest is the boat FAD type with 10.2 kg/100 m2. The conclusion of this study shows that concrete FADs, drum FADs, and boat FADs can attract fish as a place to play, feeding ground and hide from predators. Based on the construction type, FAD concrete has the best abundance and biomass values.
