Decorative Picture. The Vision of Saint Francis with the Three White Virgins

Værkdatering: (1892) Maleriet blev påbegyndt i 1891 eller i begyndelsen af 1892. Digteren Johannes Jørgensen så maleriet under udførelse, da han "en Februardag i 1892" besøgte Mogens Ballin og Clement i den sidstnævntes atelier: "Der var i Atelieret en Madonna af ham [dvs. Ballin] selv, "tre hvide Jomfruer" af Clément" (Johannes Jørgensen: Mit Livs Legende. 2. omarbejdede udgave. København 1949, bd. 1, p. 147). Maleriet blev afsluttet samme år (jf. kunstnerens datering 1892 i kataloget til Den Frie Udstilling, 1893).
