THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PARENTAL PATTERNS AND JUVENILE DELINQUENT BEHAVIOR IN THE DIGITAL ERA AT STATE MIDDLE SCHOOL 2 PUGER

Background: Parenting plays an important role in shaping adolescent behavior, especially in the digital era characterized by the rapid development of technology and social media. Inappropriate parenting can increase the risk of juvenile delinquency. Aim: To analyze the relationship between parenting patterns and juvenile delinquency in the digital era. Method: This study used a quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population was all 870 students in grades VII, VIII, and IX of SMP Negeri 2 Puger, with a sample of 274 respondents selected using stratified random sampling techniques. The research instruments were a parenting pattern questionnaire and a juvenile delinquency questionnaire in the digital era. Data analysis was carried out using the Spearman Rank correlation test. Results: The results showed that most respondents received a democratic parenting pattern (60.6%) and the majority of respondents had a low level of juvenile delinquency (98.9%). The Spearman Rank test obtained a p value = 0.001 (p < 0.05), which indicates a significant relationship between parenting patterns and juvenile delinquency in the digital era. Conclusion: Parenting styles are significantly related to juvenile delinquency in the digital era, with democratic parenting acting as a protective factor in reducing the risk of juvenile delinquency.
