View of the niche of Room 2 of the Museum of the Holy Monastery of Kykkos. An early Christian trapeza (holy altar) occupies the central space. In the background, early Christian marble reliefs (probably an epistyle) are on display. At the higher level in the middle there is a large processional icon of the Mother of God Hodegetria (13th century) supported by a pole. On either side of it there are icons depicting the Apostles, part of a Great Deesis (Greek for 'prayer' or 'entreaty'), made by Paul the Hierograph (17th century)
