View through CrossRef
The pension industry has grown rapidly in developed countries, making pension funds some of the largest financial institutions. However, emerging economies like Nigeria have not seen the same growth. To address this lack of growth, the government implemented several reforms and regulations to encourage investment in pension funds. This study investigated the relationship between pension fund assets and investment income in Nigeria. The study used a mixed-methods approach, combining textual analysis with data analysis from the National Pension Commission. The textual analysis showed that both pension fund assets and investment income increased. The data analysis confirmed that pension fund assets have a significant positive effect on investment income. Based on these findings, the study recommends cautious investment of pension fund assets, which can continue to boost investment income.
