Deuteronomy in the New Testament

Abstract
The New Testament (NT) and its literary sources correspond to contemporary Judaism in the appreciation of the Deuteronomy. In nearly every NT writing, it is not only the explicit use of Deuteronomy in quotations that is important. Parallels between the Old and New Testaments show that Deuteronomy was mostly used next to the prophets, especially Isaiah, and the Psalms, shaped by the distinct understanding of Christ, worship of the one God, love for God and neighbor, the law as God’s life-enhancing will, and the figure of Moses and his liberation song. Moreover, NT’s use of Deuteronomy witnesses developments of the (Greek) text of Deuteronomy at that time, whereby influence of the NT on the text transmission of Septuagint is recognizable.
