David v Samuelovi knjigi in poznejšem izročilu

Članek obravnava lik Davida v biblični Samuelovi knjigi. David je glavni junak te knjige, ki na začetku pripoveduje o zamenjavi Božjega kraljstva s človeškim in o začetku človeške politike. Nanj skoz vse njegovo življenje deluje priteg oblasti. Vendar zlasti tedaj, kadar nima na voljo oblastvenega sredstva, izkazuje zaupanje v Boga, tisto potezo srca, ki mu jo je v pravičnost štelo poznejše biblično izročilo. V njem je bil postavljen ne samo za visoko merilo, po katerem so bili presojani njegovi potomci, vsi poznejši judovski kralji, ampak je postal tudi »oče« Mesije.
