A true philosophical nonconformist, the British idealist John McTaggart Ellis McTaggart (1866–1925) argued for religion without God, atheism without naturalism, and life after death without a heaven or a hell. His rich, lucid, and rigorous writings deserve more attention than they have hitherto received from students of philosophy of religion.
