White napkin with pattern in satin binding. Hand-woven. May possibly be woven as a grill, on a plain loom, if so with 20 shafts and 20 tramps. More likely, however, is that it is made in damask.
The center mirror patterned with longitudinal rails and in the widest stripes cross with double arms. The board denser patterned with repetition of some of the pattern. Hand Filled. In a corner marked “LS 24” with a white child.
At the time of registration it was merged with UM024802. Where they were assembled, a note was inserted with text: “Belongs to Gbgs & Bohusläns Home Solution Association 2 pcs Towels the whole confession of Charlotte Söderblom Strömstad Tredjedelen (?) by Mrs Stålhandske Strömstad 100 years -1915 No 50.” On this napkin sat a paper patch sewn. Charlotte Söderbom in Strömstad who (?) bestows it to the Hemslöderbom association in October 1915 Both patches are in the appendix sleeve.
A hole, several flaws. Miscoloured (bitwise yellow-brown). Spots.
In 1988, Inga Carlström donated a collection of pieces of specimen that belonged to the Uddevalla homelessness association. Part of the collection was original textiles collected by Berta Kleberg around 1900. She was one of the founders of the Göteborgs o Bohusläns Home Solution Association. The second part of the textiles is test-pieces, interwoven by weaving teachers at Hemslöjden in Uddevalla after 1935.
Concerning the Homesling in Uddevalla see transcript of interview with Inga Carlström made by Eva Göransson 1989-09-19, in the museum archive 18.1.2 1 vol.
Information about Bertha Kleberg is also available in the BM archives. The homelessness in Uddevalla has been referred to as the Uddevalla homelessness association in earlier cataloguing. Changed after telephone conversation with Inga Carlström in 1997, when she stated that what was still in Uddevalla, since Göteborg’s and Bohusläns homelongation association’s activities in the city had ceased, was simply called “Hemslöjden.”
