Adnominalization

Abstract
In addition to the four types that were introduced in Chapter 2, most of the earlier typologies of predicative possession recognize a fifth type, which has been referred to as the genitive possessive (Locker 1954: 502; Clark 1978: 115; Heine 1997: 58); for reasons which will become clear below, I prefer the term adnominal possessive for this construction. Like the Locational Possessive, the With-Possessive, and the Topic Possessive, this Adnominal Possessive is an intransitive construction, which has – at least in its standard form – a locational/existential item as its predicate.
