COOPERAÇÃO UNIÃO EUROPEIA - ANGOLA E SUA INCIDÊNCIA NA LUTA CONTRA A POBREZA EM ANGOLA: REALIDADE ACTUAL E DESAFIOS

Poverty is one of the main problems faced by developing countries, the solution of which involves the involvement of internal and external agents. The European Union has developed a series of actions aimed at reducing poverty in Angola, the impact of which is still negligible. The question that guided the present research was: What are the challenges for improving the effectiveness of European Union-Angola cooperation actions in the fight against poverty in Angola. On the basis of the literature, it has been accepted that the success of development cooperation actions depends on the transformation of internal structures. The general objective was to describe the challenges for improving the effectiveness of cooperation actions. For this purpose, the deductive method was used and, for data collection, documentary analysis. Statistics show that from 2020 to 2022, the poverty incidence rate in Angola was 54%, 57% and 48%, respectively, thus demonstrating that the impact of actions resulting from European Union-Angola cooperation in combating poverty is still small. Interventions to improve its effectiveness include promoting macroeconomic stability, operationalising structural reforms, enhancing infrastructures and investing in education and vocational training.
