Abstract
Poxviruses are brick‐shaped or ovoid, enveloped viruses each containing a linear, double‐stranded DNA genome of 130–380 kilobases. Several family members, including variola, monkeypox, cowpox, vaccinia and molluscum contagiosum viruses, cause disease in humans.
