This study investigates the electronic structure, magnetic order, and quantum transport properties of seven distinct MnBr2 nanoribbons (one armchair and six zigzag) using density functional theory and the non-equilibrium Green’s function formalism. The results show that, for all nanoribbons investigated, the optimized structures become more stable as their width increases, particularly in the antiferromagnetic configuration. Quantum transport simulations demonstrate that the three identified half-metallic nanoribbons conduct a fully spin-polarized current in the spin-up channel, with complete suppression of the spin-down current. These findings underscore the significant potential of MnBr2 nanoribbons for application in nanoelectronics and nanospintronics.
