Global Insights into the Adoption and Behavioral Aspects of Energy Storage: A bibliometric study

View through CrossRef
This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of global research on the adoption and behavioral aspects of energy storage, identifying key trends, influential contributors, and interdisciplinary linkages. Utilizing Biblioshiny in R and ScientoPy, the study examines publication growth, keyword co-occurrence networks, and citation impact to map the evolving research landscape. These bibliometric tools provide structured insights into research productivity, collaboration networks, and thematic evolution, offering a systematic understanding of how energy storage adoption and behavior are studied across disciplines. The findings reveal a rapidly expanding research domain, with a steady increase in publications and high-impact citations, reflecting growing global interest in understanding behavioral drivers of energy storage adoption. Keyword co-occurrence analysis highlights the interdisciplinary nature of this research, linking policy development, consumer psychology, and technological transitions to energy storage implementation. Thematic evolution analysis uncovers shifts in focus from technical feasibility studies to consumer acceptance, regulatory frameworks, and behavioral economics, indicating the maturation of this research field. Co-authorship and citation network analyses further illustrate the global research collaboration trends, with key research clusters emerging in Europe, North America, and Asia, demonstrating the international scope of energy storage research. The study provides valuable insights for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and researchers, helping to identify and overcome behavioral barriers to energy storage adoption. By integrating Biblioshiny and ScientoPy, this study constructs a data-driven roadmap for navigating research gaps, identifying high-impact research clusters, and shaping future research directions. The results emphasize the critical role of behavioral insights in driving sustainable energy transitions, facilitating technology acceptance, and enhancing policy frameworks that support the widespread integration of energy storage solutions. This bibliometric approach offers a holistic understanding of adoption trends, supporting the advancement of research, innovation, and implementation strategies in the energy storage sector. By mapping research progress and identifying emerging themes, this study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on the behavioral dimensions of energy storage adoption, providing a foundation for future interdisciplinary collaborations and evidence-based policymaking.
