The belfry at Tensta Church, Tensta parish, Uppland 2004
View through Europeana Collections
The picture has been taken in connection with the cultural historical characterization of Tensta Church, Tensta parish, Uppland 2004.
On depictions of the church from the 1600-17th century, it can be seen that the church was surrounded by a medieval cattle wall with risers. The old cemetery wall and the guesthouse were demolished in the 1700s. The cemetery is now surrounded by a cold-walled graystone wall and a tree wreath consisting of maples. In the south are two tall, bricked and trimmed gate posts with forging gates from the 1790s. The cemetery is extended to the north and north of the belfry is a memorial grove. Near the northeastern corner of the cemetery is a late economy building with a false-red panel.
The cemetery has gravel yards and grave quarters, which are mostly crucified. Older gravel graves with stone frames occur mostly along the courtyard wall inside the south and west. Single gravel graves are also scattered in the grave quarters. Some of the gravel graves are surrounded by low iron fences. The oldest burial carers date from the 18th century. The newly expanded cemetery in the north is mostly occupied by lawns. Only a small number of tombs have been found here.
In front of the entrance to the armistice, a granite ramp was built in 2003 to improve the accessibility of the church.
