VALORI SI MORAVURI BALCANICE ILUSTRATE ÎN OPERELE LUI I.L. CARAGIALE ŞI ALEKO KONSTANTINOV

This essay reveals some comparative aspects in the works of two
remarkable contemporary satirical writers of the late nineteenth century: the Bulgarian
Aleko Konstantinov and the Romanian I.L. Caragiale, living and writing in similar sociohistorical
conditions and under the auspices of comparable cultural backgrounds, mainly
explained by the long term historical relations of their countries with the Ottoman Empire,
and the common urge for modernization and embracing of the Western values, after
gaining their independence as a consequence of the Russian-Turkish War in 1877.
