Abstract Pilot-CO2 flooding in Jilin Oil Field has been got a first base in recent years in order to ensure CO2 coming from the development of volcanic gas reserves is available for utilizing. The project has come into extended testing stage and will get into a Carbon Industry Chain(CIC) production stage of integral development of volcanic gas reserves and CO2 flooding. CIC will become a huge oil & gas development project, which composing volcanic gas reserves development, CO2 flooding and CO2 sequestration. Introduction From the year of 2008, CNPC has begun pilot test for CO2 enhanced oil recovery (EOR) in Jilin Oil Field.
The main purpose has three points:realization of CO2 emission reduction.
According to China's Policies and Actions for Addressing Climate Change(2008), China's climate warming trend is basically consistent with the general trend globally.
In the recent 50 years, the spatial distribution of precipitation has changed obviously in China, the sea level of coastal areas has risen by 90mm.

Existing research and application results at home and abroad have shown that hydrocarbon reservoirs are well closed underground gas storages, which can realize long-term CO2 sequestration.
Improvement of crude oil recovery.
Lots of successful experience from indoor and field tests of CO2 flooding in America, Canada and Britain has shown that it has broad application prospects to CO2 flooding technology in raising the use rate of low permeability oil reservoir, crude oil recovery, recovery of thickened oil reservoir, natural gas recovery and coal bed methane (CBM) recovery, etc.

Promotion of development of volcanic gas reservoirs.
They have been successively discovered to CO2-containing natural gas reservoirs and high CO2-containing gas reservoir reserves at a large number since 2002 in Songliao Basin, to ensure safe and effective development of volcanic gas reservoirs, these works must be done well including separation, treatment, transportation, use and sequestration of CO2 gas in production gas, in order that natural gas resources can be developed and domestic natural gas supply and energy security can be improved.
