) was a Roman prince under the emperors Augustus and Tiberius. Born into the established Augustan monarchy, he received the name
Germanicus
as part of posthumous honors to his father, Livia's son, the elder Drusus (9
BCE
), and added the name
Caesar
when Tiberius adopted him and Augustus adopted Tiberius (4
CE
). Soon after, he married Agrippina the Elder, Augustus' granddaughter, and the couple eventually had nine children.
