AgOAc-Catalyzed Aldehyde Allylation Using Allyldimethyl(2-pyridyl)silane

Abstract Silver salts having relatively strong Ag–O bond were found to promote the allylation of aldehydes with allyldimethyl(2-pyridyl)silane. Catalytic allylation is also possible when AgOAc was employed. A novel cooperative activation of allyl(2-pyridyl)silane has been implicated from several control experiments.
