Perbandingan Peran Social Support Peer, Family, Significant Other terhadap Career Adaptability

Abstract. Final-year university students are in a transitional phase toward the workforce, often accompanied by confusion, social pressure, and a sense of unpreparedness. In this context, social support becomes a crucial factor in fostering their psychological readiness. This study aims to compare the roles of perceived social support from three sources family, peers, and significant others on career adaptability among final-year students in Bandung. A quantitative approach was used through a survey method involving 242 students from six universities. The instruments employed were the MPSS (Zimet et al., 1988) and the CAAS (Savickas, 1997). The results showed that all respondents had high levels of social support and career adaptability. Multiple linear regression analysis indicated that the three sources of support simultaneously had a significant effect on career adaptability. Partially, support from peers and significant showed significant positive effects, while family support demonstrated a significant negative effect. These findings highlight the importance of high quality social relationships especially with peers and significant others in enhancing students’ career readiness.
Abstrak. Mahasiswa tingkat akhir berada pada masa transisi menuju dunia kerja yang kerap disertai kebingungan, tekanan sosial, dan rasa belum siap. Dalam situasi ini, dukungan sosial menjadi faktor penting yang dapat membantu kesiapan psikologis mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan peran perceived social support dari tiga sumber family, peer, dan significant other terhadap career adaptability pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir di Kota Bandung. Peneliti menggunakan metode kuantitatif terhadap 242 mahasiswa dari enam perguruan tinggi. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah MPSS (Zimet et al., 1988) dan CAAS (Savickas, 1997). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa semua responden memiliki tingkat dukungan sosial dan career adaptability yang tinggi. Uji regresi linear berganda menunjukkan bahwa ketiga sumber dukungan secara simultan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap career adaptability. Secara parsial, dukungan dari peer dan significant other berpengaruh positif signifikan, sementara dukungan keluarga justru berpengaruh negatif signifikan. Temuan ini menekankan pentingnya kualitas hubungan sosial dalam mendukung kesiapan karier mahasiswa.
