According to Olle Cederlöf’s notes on gift AM.066063 (AM 73/475), this is not a death mask.
"The portrayals on the face do not match the cranies' proportions enl 1918 burial opening - but one of the Swiss medalist Hedlinger made freehand modelling before the king’s corpse on Karlberg 1718. Hedlinger’s model now only intended to form the basis of his mission: To model a relief image for the king’s coinage and memory. Hedlinger arrived in Sweden in 1718-.
