حين امست الحروب السياسة المتبعة لحل جميع المشاكل الدولية وحين امسى العنف بكل اشكاله من الكوارث الطبيعية ,والقتل والاستغلال والاغتصاب الضاهرة التي تهدد العالم بجروح خفية انهكته جسدياً وعاطفياً وعقلياً اصبحت الصدمة والمشاكل النفسية الشغل الشاغل لعلوم النفس والتحليل النفسي والاجتماع والادب كافة حيث انشأ الاضطراب النفسي المعروف بأسم اضطراب مابعد الصدمة علاقة ثقافية تعليمية مابين الادب وعلم النفس ساهمت في ايجاد فهم عميق لهذا الاضطراب والتوصل الى علاج شاف لما اعتبر علمياً ظاهرة في علوم الصدمة. يتناول البحث الحالي قراءة كاثي كاروث النفسية لْأضطراب مابعد الصدمة في كتابها الموسوم الصدمة: سبر في الذاكرة (1994) ويقوم بتطبيقها على شخصية المضطرب جون ويد في رواية تيم اوبراين في بحيرة الغابة (1994). حيث ان تجربة بطل الرواية في الحرب تجربة فريدة تجاوزت حدود الوعي الانساني وادخلته في دوامة من الصراع النفسي.
