Contemporary demographic characeristics of Rasina region

The Rasina region is located in the central part of the Republic of Serbia. It includes the town of Kruševac, which is the center of the district and the municipalities of Trstenik, Aleksandrovac, Brus, Varvarin and Ćićevac with a total area of 2,667 km² and a population of 207,197 according to the 2022 census. The demographic development of the Rasina area is a consequence of its geographical position, the action of historical factors and socio-economic development. The development of the population of the Rasina area is characterized by a number of negative demographic changes such as: depopulation, negative natural growth and aging of the population. The subject of the paper is the analysis of demographic determinants on the territory of the Rasina region in the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century through the movement of the number of the population and households, the structure of the population and an overview of the current demographic potential of the Rasina region and its administrative-territorial units.
