View through CrossRef
This study identifies the technology barriers and facilitators as students with disabilities transition from secondary and post-secondary settings to adult life. Twenty-seven disability technology specialists from across the United States participated in a three round modified Delphi study. These specialists identified four top ten technology lists related to secondary and post-secondary transition issues including (a) facilitators when moving from secondary education to post-secondary settings, (b) barriers when moving from secondary education to post-secondary settings, (c) facilitators when moving from post-secondary settings to adult life, and (d) barriers when moving from post-secondary settings to adult life. Common themes include increasing professional knowledge, improving student self-determination, using best transition practices when using assistive technology, and establishing a technology infrastructure to support transition from school to post-secondary and adulthood settings.
