A common skin disorder called psoriasis causes thickened patches of the skin. Typically, it is discovered to be covered with silvery scales. Although psoriasis is regarded as a skin condition, it is actually the outcome of an immune system dysfunction. Types of psoriasis-Plaque psoriasis (psoriasis vulgaris), Pustular psoriasis, Nail psoriasis, Guttate psoriasis, Flexural psoriasis, Erythrodermic psoriasis. Activated T cells go into the skin from the circulation and lymph nodes and release cytokines (INF, IL-2) that cause pathologic alterations. Other cytokines like TNF- and IL-8 are produced locally by neutrophils and keratinocytes. Keratinocyte proliferation is a result of T-cell generation and activation.
