Archival Organization of Electronic Field Folklore Materials
View through CrossRef
Considered such an important element of folklore archiving as the archival organization of electronic field folklore materials (different forms of recording: audio and video recording, photography, verbal recording/transcription). The prerequisites of the issues in the context of the digital era of information technology development and its impact on Ukrainian folkloristics (in technical and methodological areas) are outlined. The main content of the article is the coverage of the experience of processing electronic folklore documents, which the author has developed over the past 18 years together with colleagues from the Department of Ukrainian Folklore named after Academician Filaret Kolessa and the Laboratory of Folklore Studies of the Ivan Franko University of Lviv: this is the experience of arranging the field records in the Folklore Archive of the Department of Ukrainian Folklore and in the Electronic Archive of Ukrainian Folklore (www.folklore-archive.org.ua). The problems are covered in two perspectives: theoretical and applied, which are presented in separate sections of the article.
In the section "Theoretical principles of the archival organization of field folklore materials" the principle of the origin of the document is analyzed, which is the basis of the special model of the archival organization of field folklore materials, according to which the digital funds of the Folklore Archive of the Department of Ukrainian Folklore (DUF) were developed, and later the structure of the Electronic Archive of Ukrainian Folklore (EAUF) was designed. In the section "Practice of archival organization of field folklore materials" the specifics of the practical implementation of the proposed model of the archival organization of field folklore materials in the structure of the funds of the Folklore Archive of DUF and EAUF are considered in detail. The specifics of the structure of the electronic archive funds of DUF are emphasized separately, the set and configuration of structural elements of which are determined by the academic (university) type of archive: its funds appeared as a result of the implementation of the educational process - the implementation of folkloristic practice by philology students, and the Archive itself was organized for the purpose of preserving student folklore records. The practical implementation of the model of the archival organization of field folklore materials in the structure of the EAUF archival funds is considered according to the trajectory of movement through the pages of the electronic archive, which reflects the skeletal structure of connections and relationships between data in the EAUF. Not only the existing content posted on the EAUF pages (data, objects and connections between them) were discussed, but also the ideas that arose in the author and his colleagues after the completion of the development and during the exploitation of the Electronic Archive and which are waiting for their implementation in its subsequent versions (updates).
The presented experience of folklore archiving is intended to initiate a discussion among colleagues archivists in order to develop unified, common strategies for the organization of folklore archival documents.
Title: Archival Organization of Electronic Field Folklore Materials
Description:
Considered such an important element of folklore archiving as the archival organization of electronic field folklore materials (different forms of recording: audio and video recording, photography, verbal recording/transcription).
The prerequisites of the issues in the context of the digital era of information technology development and its impact on Ukrainian folkloristics (in technical and methodological areas) are outlined.
The main content of the article is the coverage of the experience of processing electronic folklore documents, which the author has developed over the past 18 years together with colleagues from the Department of Ukrainian Folklore named after Academician Filaret Kolessa and the Laboratory of Folklore Studies of the Ivan Franko University of Lviv: this is the experience of arranging the field records in the Folklore Archive of the Department of Ukrainian Folklore and in the Electronic Archive of Ukrainian Folklore (www.
folklore-archive.
org.
ua).
