His pretty blonde wife tried to stop him from doing it . So did his friends. ' Remember , two men have died in the attempt , ' they told him . But magician Billy McComb was determined to carry out what is perhaps the most dangerous trick ever .
Millions of television viewers saw him being placed in a along , aluminium ' coffin ' punctured with holes in the sides and on the top . A flaming torch held by Bill's wife , June is then thrust into the open end of the box . Flames dart through the holes ; great clouds of smoke billow out . And Billy? The audience holds its breath and thinks of the two men who died from the burns they received during this same act . But hey Presto , on the box being opened completely , there is no sign of the young magician - only a heap of bones and a skull. No , it isn't June's husband . The act has been a success - thankfully .
PICTURE SHOWS:- The end.....of Billy . June looks at a heap of bones and a grinning skull and decides her young husband has in some remarkable way escaped being burned alive .
