Study for a Suprematistic Interior. Approximately 1920 - 1921. Study. Pencil and gouache on paper. 37.9 x 53.5. Attributed to Kazimir Malevich by Vasilii Rakitin. Inscribed in pencil: 3rd room. Colored geometric composition consisting of a large horizontal rectangle, which occupies the center and most of the painting surface. The rectangle is divided into smaller sub-rectangles (or near-rectangles), all of which are tangent to each other. Geometric surfaces are either internally shaded (brown rectangles, red long strips) or decorated with small black rectangles, squares or circles in a specific arrangement. Suprematism.
