Abstract
Villin is one of the major structural actin-binding proteins which are associated with the actin cytoskeleton of the intestinal or renal epithelial cell brush border microvilli. Villin belongs to a family of actin-binding proteins which share sequence identities and that have similar effects on actin polymerization or organization in vitro. Villin is most probably involved in the assembly of the brush border cytoskeleton.
