Investigation of С60 fullerene in a binary mixture of xylene and ethanol
View through CrossRef
In this work, concrete features of the formation and ageing of fullerene C60 dispersed particlesin the binary xylene/ethanol system are studied using refractometry, optical absorption, anddynamic light scattering (DLS) methods. A correlation has been established between thechange in the refractive index of the C60/xylene/ethanol solution and the degree of selforganizationof C60 molecules in the medium at various concentrations and storage periods ofthe solution. It is shown that the features of the optical absorption spectrum ofC60/xylene/ethanol at a fixed low concentration of C60 are sensitive to its storage time. It wasdetermined that the beginning time of the cluster formation of C60 and their final size dependon the degree of concentration of fullerene and the time of keeping the solution. The formationof different-dimensional C60 nanostructures during the evaporation of a drop ofC60/xylene/ethanol solution on a substrate was studied using electron microscopy.
