O lugar das imagens na escrita da História: Jean-Luc Godard, Eric Hobsbawm e Marc Ferro em Histoire Parallèle

After the 20th century, images in history and historiography have played a crucial role in Marc Ferro’s research and audiovisual work. Histoire Parallèle, a TV show he hosted in1989-2001, widely demonstrated the role cinema plys in building social omaginaries. Hundreds of debates took place, but this topic was mainly addressed during the one between fi lmmaker Jean-Luc Godard and historian Eric Hobsbawm. And this, event amidst tension and mistrust, as in the show tackling events that took place in May 1, 1950. Tension and mistrust that Marc Ferro faced when he gave cinema the legitimacy only writt en texts previously had among historians. It is around Histoire Parallèle and historians’ point of view, on the one hand, and critical questioning by fi lmmakers who write history with images, on the other hand, that we produced this text.
