PHARMACEUTICAL STANDARDIZATION OF PARIJATA PUSHPA ARKA

View through CrossRef
The present study was undertaken to prepare and standardise Parijata Pushpa Arka, a distillate formulation de-rived from Nyctanthes arbour-tristis flowers, which is widely valued in traditional medicine for its therapeutic and aromatic properties. Arka Kalpana follows a unique distillation method that helps retain volatile active con-stituents, making it essential to establish standard parameters to ensure consistency and quality. Fresh Parijata flowers collected from the herbal garden of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda, Udupi, were used to prepare Arka according to classical guidelines. The formulation was evaluated for its organoleptic properties, clarity, volatile matter, specific gravity, refractive index, pH, viscosity, and total acidity using stand-ard analytical procedures. The prepared Parijata Pushpa Arka exhibited characteristic sensory properties and met the expected physicochemical standards. The specific gravity, refractive index, and pH values were within normal ranges, while viscosity and volatile matter indicated proper extraction and formulation stability. Total acidity was found to be minimal, confirming the mild and stable nature of the Arka. The results demonstrate that Parijata Pushpa Arka prepared through classical distillation meets the essential quality requirements for Ayur-vedic formulations. This standardisation provides reliable baseline data for future research, assures the reproduc-ibility of the formulation, and supports its safe therapeutic application. Overall, the study highlights the im-portance of establishing standard parameters for Arka preparations to ensure their purity, effectiveness, and ac-ceptability in both clinical practice and pharmaceutical development.
Title: PHARMACEUTICAL STANDARDIZATION OF PARIJATA PUSHPA ARKA
