Counterpoint with trace
View through Europeana Collections
Nana Tokatli's mixed media work "Counterpoint with a trace" is a monochromatic painting surface, which is defined by the presence of vertical and horizontal elements. Creating a free cross, the artist places continuous lines on the vertical axis, which are organized in a strict arrangement, while on the horizontal axis smaller sections of lines in rhythmic movement "break" the strict geometry. At the same time, the minimal red colour at the bottom of the composition interrupts the absolute symmetry.
