Vengono prospettati gli adombramenti che rinviano alla vasta gamma di modulazioni e risonanze dell’esperienza della paura e di quella del coraggio: dal timore alla temerarietà, dalla spinta alla decisione, dalla pulsione alla scelta, in un incessante scambio dialettico fra passione e regione, fra scoraggiamenti e spaurimenti: inevitabile il richiamo esistenziale al “timor et tremor” di Kierkegaard e al “courage to be” di Tillich. Densa e ubiquitaria, per l’autore, la fortitudo, sia stoica che cristiana.
