RADOJE RADOJEVIĆ − THE FOUNDER OF CONTEMPORARY MONTENEGRISTICS

Authors of the article give an overview of the contribution of Radoje Radojević to foundation of contemporary Montenegristics. If the contribution of Radojević to Montenegristics is observed in its entirety, his work may be divided into three segments: the first one is related to the Montenegrin literature, the second one to the Montenegrin culture, and the third one to the Montenegrin language. In the field of studying Montenegrin literature, Radojević’s work on publishing oral narrative heritage is especially important. In his studies about Njegoš, Ljubiša, Marko Miljanov, Nikola I, approaching the tradition in a new manner, Radojević acutely pointed out those aspects of their literary profiles which were neglected in traditional criticism. In the domain of culturological analyses, Radojević persistently and bravely indicated the problem of treatment, negation and usurpation of Montenegrin cultural and spiritual heritage, especially defending the Lovćen mausoleum. Radojević showed clear debating gift in his defense of Montenegrin language as well, in times when that phrase was considered a first ­class heresy. With his overall work, Radoje Radojević certainly belongs to a selected group of founders of contemporary Montenegristics.
