Cet historique d’un peu plus d’un siècle de la gravure en Catalogne, depuis Fortuny vers 1860 jusqu’au début du xxie siècle, démontre la vitalité d’un domaine artistique dans lequel se réalisa l’union féconde entre de remarquables praticiens, taille-douciers catalans, formés souvent à Paris et ouverts à la nouveauté, et les grands artistes catalans de l’avant-garde, Miró, Dalí, Tàpies, en incluant aussi Picasso, sans oublier des autodidactes géniaux comme Mariano Fortuny, le xylographe Ricart ou les chalcographes Xavier Nogués, Jaume Pla et Joan Barbarà.
