Mr Roger A P Pinckney, F R I B A, and and his partner Mr A F E Gott, whose office in Gray's Inn Square, London, have won a contest for a design for enlarging St Andrews Cathedral, Sydney, Australia._x000D_
Until now they have been successful planners of police stations and country houses._x000D_
This is their first big success of the kind, and is described by Mr Gott as 'a shot in the dark which came off'. The award was opened to Empire architects and carries a premium of £500._x000D_
The enlargement scheme is to cost £500,000, and one of the architects may go to Sydney to supervise the work._x000D_
