Mádl Ferenc kondoleáló levele Benedek Ferenc özvegyének (forrásközlés)

2022-ben 15 éve, hogy meghalt Benedek Ferenc, a római jog nemzetközi hírű professzora, aki jogászok generációit – köztük Magyarország két köztársasági elnökét: Mádl Ferencet és Sólyom Lászlót is – tanította a Pécsi Tudományegyetemen. Mádlnak nemcsak a tanára, hanem bizalmas barátja is lett, és maradt is egészen 2007-ben bekövetkezett haláláig. Bár Benedek bő fél évtizeddel idősebb volt tanítványánál, neveltetésükben és világnézetükben számos hasonlóság fedezhető fel, amely ezt a baráti kapcsolatot megalapozta. Beszédtémáik mellett részben baráti körük is közös volt, és ez a láthatatlan szellemi kör a résztvevők haláláig kitartott. Jelen írásban Benedek és Mádl kapcsolatán keresztül tekintjük át a professzor és híres tanítványa pályafutását, számos levéltárban, illetve a Mádl család tulajdonában található irat segítségével.
