AbstractThe author, a former longtime executive at IBM and HP, recounts her professional work with Frances Hesselbein, and how she first discovered her work in leadership, in 1989. Citing one particular quality about her importance, she writes: “Frances was always looking to the future. She often spoke about five enduring leadership qualities that she believed will define the great leaders of the 21st Century.” Hesselbein and the author first worked together producing the “Hewlett‐Packard Women’s Conference, attended by over 2800 diverse women and men leaders and aspiring leaders. Our senior leaders that happened to be men were very delighted t o be included and gave moving messages to those attending.”
