The head is on a platform. This particular object has a vertical dash on each cheek. The pupils of the marked eyes are pierced holes, eyebrows carved out. The hairstyle goes up like four pieces of tower, in the neck there are small rings/holes in the hairstyle. Three pieces of rings/sections on the neck. The ears as crescent moons. Under the carved mouth something about resembles a piercing. The bottom plate decorated. In shape and in view of the footplate, the objects are reminiscent of chess pieces. Miniature heads in ivory (Obuntun Ifa) that during a divination session with Ifa are set alongside the divination tray (Opon Ifa) as a kind of “guardian.” The small statuette symbolizes in this context the presence of the god Eshus, a mediator who activates other spirits and divinities.
