Sunita (Amina Peerbhoy), an Indian with powerful Oriental features, and her 6-year-old son, Enver, posed for Epstein's Madonna and Child. The artist may have included the snakelike necklace to recall when Moshe Oyved and Sunita, looking like the Queen of Sheba, were mistaken for royalty during a ceremonial procession in London.
