Clothing ticket

View through Europeana Collections
The Clothing Ticket (Kleiderkarte) became part of the ration system that operated in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia from 2. October 1939. A voucher for clothing was the only way to buy otherwise poorly available clothing. This particular ticket is written in Czech-German and is intended for a girl from 3 to 14 years, who could pick up the goods until 31. October 1940. Similar vouchers worked almost everything at that time. In addition to vouchers for textiles and footwear, they were mainly food tickets, without which it was not possible to buy basic food in stores at all. The allocation system operated in Czechoslovakia and the post-war period and was abolished up to 1. June 1953, when the currency reform was implemented.
