Piloty‐Robinson Pyrrole Synthesis

View through CrossRef
Abstract The thermal transformation of enolizable ketazines into pyrrole derivatives in presence of a catalytic amount of Lewis acid or Brønsted acid is generally referred to as the Piloty–Robinson pyrrole synthesis. The study finds during thermal transformation of aliphatic ketazines, a competitive route also occurs to give pyrazoline as a by‐product. Various modifications have been applied for this reaction including solid‐supported condition or microwave irradiation. This reaction is useful for the preparation of pyrrole derivatives.
