Microphysics developments in the ALADIN model

The microphysics scheme is one of the fundamental physical parametrizations in climate models. The microphysics scheme is essential for precise precipitation forecasts. Recently, the microphysics scheme in the ALADIN model was enhanced; particularly, prognostic graupel was added and the computation of evaporation was changed. As a consequence, the bias of precipitation accumulations is partially reduced and the precipitation shadow is better simulated.
